Sloan - “The Marquee and the Moon”
1. Epic, but short.
2. “We all get co-opted.”
Reigning Sound - “Stormy Weather”
As anyone who follows any Minneapolis Tumblrs may have noticed (because we’ve all mentioned it repeatedly), spring has come early to the Twin Cities, and even though we got lots of rain, clouds, and even our first thunderstorm this week, we’re all still bopping around like weebles because at least it’s not snow.
For example, the clerk at the record store pointed at the cover of The Brutalist Bricks and said, “We’ll be seeing these soon! Bees!”
Shocked by his dorkiness, I replied with the equally nerdy, “There’s buds on the trees!”
Weather, ad nauseum.
Unrelated note: Reigning Sound is a fantastic band name, and I wish I knew them better.
Attentive readers may have noticed a decreasing number of Wednesday Morning Dance Parties and an increasing number of Friday and Saturday Pre-shift Whines. I’m becoming less and less 9-to-5 every day, friends. I can’t stand by that schedule anymore.
Nevertheless, the dance parties will return, someday. For now, I haven’t been feeling too dancey when I get home on Tuesdays. When the inspiration comes, when I hear a song that makes my feet move, I’ll post one.
In the meantime, here’s a song that was on a mixtape from my high school boyfriend, along with “Beer” by Reel Big Fish, “New York City” by The Might Be Giants, some Genesis, and some Pink Floyd. The whistling still makes me think that Axl understands me on some level.
Hot Chip - “Slush”
After one listen to the new Hot Chip record, it is safe to say that I love it and that I should put “will dance to Hot Chip until we burst” in my Required for Romance list.
But it’s Saturday, and Saturday is for whining, so here’s the whiniest track from One Life Stand. Please note: it’s not really whiny, but what is these days?
In other news, thank you to those who helped me recover my theme last night. I’ve been wanting to change it up anyways, but last night helped me discover that I’m not quite there yet.
