theoreticalgirl:

The new issue of the Philadelphia Weekly is pretty much the most important thing you’ll read all week.

Oh man, I wish the Twin Cities had an alt weekly that would print a cover story like this.
(Why doesn’t Twin Cities Runoff do it? We probably will, in some form, with the minimal resources we have! Slutwalk is coming up in August, after all. But the thing about Twin Cities Runoff is that we’re pretty progressive, and that would be totally expected because we’re riding the counterculture line. Because, you know, speaking out against rape is counterculture.
Also (remember whispery posts), when I write feminist things about the local media, the reaction I read is somewhere between bewilderment and “Huh? You’re thinking too hard about this. Stop critiquing them; they’re trying.” I’m still trying to figure out the best way to write about feminism and media in the Twin Cities—and provide a legitimate, strong feminist critique that doesn’t make people roll their eyes. I mean if you provide a legitimate feminist critique somewhere other than the internet people roll their eyes.
And I know that MinnPost would publish something like this but MinnPost’s audience isn’t really the ideal audience for this story, but it would be really cool if we had an alt weekly that would  with that reach and visibility and all. But, Michele Bachmann is more important right right right.)
Anyway, maybe I’ll work on some pitch letters today. I don’t know where to send them, but I’ll work on them.
Oh, and thanks, Maria, for sharing this!
