Thursday's There. I said it.
I am bored with sans-serif fonts, so I changed my fonts. Why are sans-serif fonts the fonts of internet greatness? I may find out if I watch Helvetica or learn more about design, but I haven’t done either of those things yet, so I’m just going to keep plugging for Palatino Linotype all the time. Sans-serif sucks! It’s unreadable in large doses! There. I said it.

Having worked for a press that kinda sometimes printed vanity books and always published books that only returned measly amounts of money to authors, I’ve always been completely fascinated by the amount of people who spend hours of writing and research time and been satisfied with just, you know, having a book out. The above story makes it pretty clear that even the publishers don’t...

These pants
Although they have a fairly conservative green wool exterior, I know that my pants are lined in leopard-print sateen. I suspect this is because Express had a bunch of leopard-print sateen leftover from the leopard-print sateen era, but I like to think the reason is that the Express knows I’m secretly a jungle cat. When I feel the spotted sateen on my legs (or, uhh, my longjohns), I feel like...

hungryghoast: Hipster Runoff? I don’t get it. I mean, yeh, ok, I guess i sorta “get” why people like it, i’ve even been amused by it once and I enjoyed that funny Radiohead remix they did, but man… How is this still around? How is this still being referenced and aped? Am i missing something here or is it really just the constant, repetitive, childish snark that it seems? Don’t get me wrong, I...

Tumblr Radar is consistently disappointing. It does not reflect the content of its users. I thought it would get better when the format switched, but it didn’t really; the crappiness became compacted. How many times are you going to post songs from “Once,” Tumblr Radar? Would you like to post a few more quotes about how we should appreciate life? Oh, how about you post a meme...

Not only am I super excited about this whole new president thing, but I am also excited about the fact that I begin teaching my editing class on a day when it’s incredibly easy to do comparative news critique.
